The Labyrinth was actually the palace. The kids who were brought here, for "Bull Games", from the surrounding islands thought of the palace as a huge maze. With 1100 rooms and coridors, it's easy to see why. Labyrinth does not have the same meaning in Minoan as it does in Greek. In Minoan it means "Double Headed Axe". To the Minoans, this Labyrinth meant "The Palace of the Double Headed Axe". The double headed axes were used to kill the Bulls. PHOTO: Peter Duke ![]()
